RESCUE OUTREACH MISSION

History Of The Mission
Mother Weavers Story

Mother Weaver moved from New Jersey to Sanford Florida in 1968, where she built her home on Dixie Way and established and pastored The Rescue Church of God, Inc.

She started the Rescue Child Care Center in 1970 and Mother's Kitchen, a restaurant located on 13th Street. in Sanford Florida.

Mother Weaver is the founder of the Rescue Outreach Mission of Sanford.  This dream became a reality in 1986 as the Lord led her to build a haven to feed, clothe and shelter those that were homeless.  The mission is just an extension of what Mother Weaver has done from her home for many years.  She has always had a heart for the needy from an early age.  In 1977 she founded the Open Door Shelter for Women and Children since the inception of the shelters over 20,000 individuals and families have been served.

The efforts of Mother Weaver have grown into the only emergency shelter of its kind that  provides such services within Seminole County.  The Rescue Outreach Mission provides emergency shelter to the homeless as well as three meals a day to the shelter residents and those that are hungry.  The Mission provides clothing, food boxes, counseling, substance and drug abuse programs and the GED/Adult Basic Education Program.  Because of Mother Weavers efforts and those that supported her, literally, countless lives of both citizens and transients have been saved in Seminole County and also has helped reduce the crime in our community.

Mother Weaver is recognized for her outstanding contributions to the well being of mankind in our city and community.  She is the recipient of several Humanitarian Awards, including the Jefferson Award and the NAACP Community Award.

We salute Mother Weaver for all of her labor.
